Hi Mr. Zanotti, like I always say, thank you first for sharing your knowledge!!, I have a problem publishing my project with captivate, I have finish my tutorial, it is kind of heavy, around 300 slides, but now I cannot use the preview option and either publishing, everytime I try, I got this error. “Your computer does not have sufficient memory resources to perform this operation, -check one or more options in the Externalize Resources List, and re-publish. - Close other applications open on your computer…”…I have done everything…I know that probably is because is heavy, but how many slides captivate can handle?…my computer has 3 GB in Ram, so, could you help me?, I don’t want to start all over again…and If i have to, I want to know what can i do, to prevent this again! or if i can do small projects and put it like in a playlist or something…thank you very much Mr. Zanotti, I hope you can help me…

I want to know if captivate can do the panning and zooming that camtasia does!, could you please answer our questions? i have been looking for tutorials, manuals and everything but no info appears to be realease!!!, please please give us an answer!!..thank you for share your knowledge!…

Hi Jennifer,

You could do what you want by asking at the beginning, English or Spanish? Based on their answer you could branch to a Spanish or an English Captivate course.

In essence you would have three Captivate pieces:

1. Ask the question 2. Spanish one 3. English one.

The Asking Captivate would then do a Goto URL and launch either language file.

Make sense?

Yes, there are limitations and bugs in the QUIZ area. We spent quite a bit of time working with Shameer, the Product Manager for Captivate, this week regarding this specific issue.

Hi Joe,

Captivate and Camtasia have some features in common, but they are very different tools.

Captivate is truly an e-Learning development tool that can be used for software simulation training as well as soft skills training.

Camtasia is stronger in the movie metaphor and takes better screenshots for a movie. We then take the AVI files and edit them with our intros/outros in Sony Vegas Pro 9.

Captivate can also generate an AVI file, but that’s really for a demo mode with litle interactivity.

For e-Learning development I would use Captivate.

I am just starting, and Captivate has been frustrating. Considering upgrading from Camtasia, but observed in your video- you still use camtasia. Why?

Very helpful episode. Thank you.

I’m trying to create a branching quiz and give feedback after each question. This works but if the students scrolls back the question slides disappear and only the answer slides appear. Grrr

Thank you SO much for making this information available–this was exactly what I needed. I’m a new user of Captivate, and lucky to have started with version 4, it seems. As a brand-new student of ID for e-learning, learning Captivate 4 by importing a PowerPoint I’ve been working on is ideal. I just need to figure out how to make a branching choice now to begin the PowerPoint so that the user can choose either a Spanish or an English version. Back to your podcasts!

Hi Rick, It takes a long time for your podcasts to download and play. What is the published file size of your movies? And do you use Captivate to create them? Or Camtasia Studio? Or other?
